Zane the bear is a recurring character that I created named after my younger brother Connor's middle name, Zane.
Connor has Autism, and i feel that this relates to my Zane paintings perfectly as a sort of inaudible character. At times Zane may look indifferent, but the complexity and color scheme of his geometric layout may seem to speak for him. He serves as a vehicle to show how I may have been feeling at the time (whether it's about Connor or just life in general). To me, it is significant that you never see polar bears in color-rich environments. Painting him gives me the chance to show people something that they recognize in a an entirely new light. For this reason I see it as symbolic for uniqueness and comfortability with one's self.
